We have a 40+ year history that has evolved from syndicating deals in the first 19 years of our existence, to investing high net worth discretionary capital, to then forming institutional separate account/joint ventures, and most recently investing on behalf of commingled institutional discretionary funds over the past 10 years.

Marshall is co-president and chief investment officer as well as a member of the company’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining IEC, Marshall worked on the investment team at TA Associates and in investment banking at Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group. Marshall graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Spanish, and was captain of the cross country team. He is vice chairman of the Urban Land Institute’s Multifamily Silver Council and a former board member of The Young Presidents’ Organization. Marshall gives back by helping at The Haas School of Business.
Julia is co-president and chief operating officer responsible for corporate operations, asset management and repositioning of all investments. She sets the strategic direction of the company and its investment activities as a member of its Investment Committee. Prior to joining IEC, Julia worked in management consulting for Accenture. Julia graduated summa cum laude from Emory University with a B.A. in Economics and holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute Multifamily Council (Green), the Stanford Real Estate Council, and Emory College’s Dean’s Advisory Council.
Leo is responsible for leading IEC’s accounting department. He oversees both the property and fund accounting teams and is responsible for the corporate financials. Leo comes to IEC having worked at The Related Companies for the past 18 years in such varied roles as vice president of Accounting and Administration (Santa Clara), vice president of Commercial Accounting (New York) and director of Financial Planning & Analysis (New York). He started his career with financial roles at OptiMight Communications and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Leo holds a B.A. from University of California at Santa Barbara, an M.B.A. from Fordham University, and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and California.
Autumn supports the investments and asset management teams by performing financial analysis of prospective investments, preparing fair market value analyses, and writing investment memos. Prior to IEC, she interned at Eastdil Secured, a global real estate investment bank, where she was trained on advanced modeling techniques to underwrite various real estate investments, analyze rental trends, and prepare broker’s opinions of value. Additional internship experience included working at Rosewood Family Advisors preparing financial and tax projections for high-net-worth clients. Autumn graduated with a B.S.C. in Finance from Santa Clara University.
Alex is responsible for overseeing the analyst team, identifying and underwriting acquisition prospects across markets, facilitating their review by Investment Committee, and closing efficiently. Prior to joining IEC, Alex was an acquisitions senior analyst at LEM Capital in Philadelphia where he analyzed and underwrote multifamily investments nationally. He also formerly worked at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. as an analyst focused on real estate investments. Alex holds a B.A. in Communications and an M.S. in Management from Wake Forest University.
Brendan is responsible for sourcing and underwriting acquisitions and dispositions as well as a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to IEC, he was an acquisitions associate at Partners Group, a global private equity firm in San Francisco. Previously he was a financial analyst at The JBG Companies where he acquired, disposed and recapitalized assets exceeding $980 million in total value. Brendan graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. in Management.
Lindsay is responsible for leading the Human Resources function including talent acquisition, associate development, HR strategy, policies and procedures, compensation and benefits, HRIS, and regulatory compliance. Her team also manages the corporate office in Los Altos. Prior to IEC, Lindsay served as Head of Human Resources for Fitness and Wellness Professionals, a New Jersey-based medical fitness company. Lindsay earned a B.A. from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and is certified as a Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
Miles is responsible for managing all real estate transactions. He oversees contracts, property diligence, loans and insurance. Prior to joining IEC, Miles worked for Manhattan Financial Bank as a loan officer. Miles graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Law and Society, and has a real estate broker's license from Allied School of Real Estate. Miles is the broker of record for Interstate Equities Corporation and IEC Property Services Corporation.
Reena is responsible for accounting oversight and cash management of IEC’s three discretionary funds. Previously, Reena has served in diverse accounting leadership roles at several real estate companies. These include being the corporate controller for Starcity, a San Francisco real estate developer, where she was responsible for leading all accounting activities including internal controls, internal and fund reporting, audit and cash management. Prior to that, she was a fund controller for 643 Capital Management. Reena holds a B.A. in Commerce from Delhi University and a Masters of Commerce from Annamali University in India. She is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a licensed CPA.
Steven La is an asset manager responsible for the business plan execution of IEC assets located in Northern California and Seattle. Steven was previously a development manager for Lendlease where he worked on the development of multi-family assets as part of the Google Development Ventures project in Silicon Valley. While completing his Masters at MIT, he interned with the MITIMCO Cambridge Real Estate team where he helped analyze the mixed-use development projects in Kendall Square. Earlier in his career, Steven was a senior advisor at E3 Advisory where he led the transaction and project management activities for various mixed-use urban renewal projects. Steven earned a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of Sydney, a Masters of Construction Law from University of Melbourne, and a Masters of Science in Real Estate Development from MIT.
David is responsible for all asset management and capital projects at IEC. He is a member of the Investment Committee and our director of ESG. He previously served as an asset manager and vice president at IEC. Prior to joining IEC, he worked as a financial analyst at Kimco Realty Corporation, a publicly traded REIT. David graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a B.S. in Business Administration, and has passed all three levels of the CFA exams.
Nolan supports the investments and asset management teams by performing financial analysis of prospective acquisitions, preparing investment memos, and analyzing market data for our portfolio. Prior to joining IEC, he completed internships at the Collegiate Real Estate Network, The NRP Group, a consulting firm, Ross Business Consultant Corps, and KPMG. Nolan holds a B.B.A. in Business Administration and a Minor in Real Estate Development from the University of Michigan.
Kelly is director of property management and president of IEC Property Services Corporation, IEC’s in-house property management company. He is also a member of the Investment Committee. He is responsible for leading the day-to-day property-level operations of all portfolio assets. Kelly previously served as senior vice president of Operations at Lyon Living where he was responsible for the operation of 9,000 units across five states. Prior to that, Kelly served as senior director at The Irvine Company and senior portfolio director at Essex, a public REIT. Kelly graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a B.S. in Management Science and is a faculty instructor for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). Kelly also earned his RPA designation in 2006 through BOMI and his CPM® designation in 2013 through IREM.
